Cameroon defender, Olivier Mbaizo, says he is currently focused on helping Philadelphia Union achieve their objective in the current Major League Soccer [MLS] season and will only think about the Indomitable Lions’ 2022 FIFA World Cup assignment at the end of the campaign.

The Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup will hold from November 20 until December 18.

Mbaizo reiterates that he will focus on the FIFA World Cup at the conclusion of the current MLS season.

The MLS regular season will be concluded on October 9, and the MLS Cup final in which the winner of the Eastern Conference and the winner of the Western Conference will face off will be held on November 5 2022. The winner of the MLS Cup is adjudged the League champion for the season.

“I am concentrated on my club – on Philadelphia, on the club’s ambitions,” The Inquirer quoted Mbaizo as saying.

“After the season, I’ll think about the World Cup. I’m focused on Philadelphia until then.”

Mbaizo has scored one goal and recorded two assists in 17 MLS appearances this season.

He has made 11 appearances for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were the first African team to reach the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup. They achieved the feat at Italia ’90 edition, but lost -2 to the Three Lions of England at Stadio San Paolo on July 1.

Cameroon are in Group G at the 2022 FIFA World Cup alongside Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland.
