Federation of International Football Association, FIFA on Friday congratulated the Flying Eagles of Nigeria on the team’s qualification for the U-20 World Cup in Poland, reports Completesports.com.
The Flying Eagles booked a spot in Poland after edging out hosts Niger 1-0 in a tightly contested Group A encounter at the Seyni Kountche Stadium on Thursday.
Paul Aigbogun ‘ s lads finished top of Group A with seven points from three games ahead of South Africa who also beat Burundi 1-0 to earn their qualification for the World Cup.
FIFA took to the social media to felicitate with the Flying Eagles on achieving the great feat.
“The Flying Eagles are headed to this year’s #U20WC Poland 2019! ???
They’ve finished top of Group A at #TotalAFCONU20 and reached the knockout stage,” reads the tweet.
Flying Eagles make a return to the championship after missing out of the 2017 edition staged in South Korea.
South Africa and Senegal are the other African countries who have made it to Poland 2019 billed to hold from 23 May to 15 June 2019.
