Runtown is one of those artists who hardly ever disappoints when it comes to dropping bops. He’s confirmed this yet again, with the surprise release of his hotly anticipated project, Tradition – a fantastic six-track EP that finds the afropop star showing off his impressive range.
Earlier on in the year, when Runtown first announced the EP, he revealed that he wants to make music everyone around the world can enjoy — taking our sound to a global stage. Well, with this coherent and well-produced body of work, he might just get his wish.
About dropping the project a week before its original release date, Runtown said:
“I have broken the protocols because I want you guys to have the music as quickly as possible. Do me a favour, stream the EP until you can sing every song word for word”
Well, that won’t be hard, as he’s definitely given us a fantastic body of work. While pretty much every song on the project soars, the undeniable standout is the titular song, “Tradition”, which excellently samples Donnell Jones’ 1999 classic, “This Luv”.
