As soon as it was announced that Beyoncé, Donald Glover and Chiwetel Ejiofor will star in the upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King, it immediately shot to the top of everyone’s ‘most anticipated movies’ list.

Now, as the release date nears, we’ve just got another trailer for the film, and this time, we get our first glimpse of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Simba’s villanous uncle, Scar.

Disney has breathed new life into several animated features in recent years, such as Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book etc, repeatedly finding an impressive collection of talent to do so. The British-Nigerian actor was cast as Scar, which is super exciting, and now we’ve been given a first look.

Scar is the film’s main antagonist, and the live action remake steers away from the original Scar being a bit effeminite. From the second trailer, the despondent nature of Scar’s empire is really highlighted, complete with a thin and straggly looking lion, with a powerful roaring voice.

The Lion King remake is only a hundred days away, and we’re not sure those days can come any quicker. Hopefully, Disney will continue to satiate us with more clips from the film, before its July 19 release.
