From supporting the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup, to launching a Pidgin English Twitter account, AS Roma has been known for showing a lot of love to Nigeria. In a bid to strengthen that support, the Italian club is now considering opening an academy in the country.

In the past few years, we have seen a number of European clubs open academies in Nigeria – from Barcelona to Real Madrid. While some of these academies are run directly by the clubs, AS Roma is looking to run theirs hand-in-hand with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Last weekend, officials from the club met with NFF officials to sign a three-year partnership that will see AS Roma help out in the development of young football talent in the country. Aside from setting up an academy, the partnership will also yield an exhibition match in Nigeria for AS Roma.
Needless to say, all this will establish the club as one of the most-loved in the country.
