Three months ago, Arsenal offered goalkeeper, Ovie Ejeheri a scholarship deal, which made him a part of the club’s under-18 team. Since Ejeheri is eligible to represent Nigeria, Uganda and England, some experts were wondering where he would commit his international future.
Well, the 16-year-old has now made his decision, revealing that he’s very much interested in playing for Nigeria.
With the 2019 FIFA Under-17 World Cup set to start next month, many hoped that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) would offer Ejeheri a call-up to the Golden Eaglets team. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and we suspect it has something to do with the goalkeeper suffering an injury.
Still undergoing rehabilitation, he has spoken out to remind us all that his dream of playing for Nigeria hasn’t died. He’s quoted by All Nigeria Soccer as saying:
“I hope to play for the Nigerian National Team someday if the opportunity arises. It would be a great privilege to win international trophies with them.
I am being prepared for what will surprise a lot of people in the football industry.”
