A number of Nigeria-born players are soaring in the Premier League, but it doesn’t end there. The second-highest overall league in English football, the Championship, is also benefiting from some Nigerian talent, as Semi Ajayi and Eberechi Eze just made the league’s ‘Team of the Week‘.
Ajayi, who plays for West Brom, was instrumental in the club’s 1-1 draw against Fulham on Saturday. With his side on the brink of suffering a one-goal loss, the 25-year-old pushed himself to register a counter goal in the 80th minute of the game — his first-ever goal since joining the club.
Eze, who has been with Queens Park Rangers since 2016, may not have played for Nigeria before, but he’s definitely repping the country. He put up a brilliant display against Luton Town on Saturday, helping his club escape a draw by scoring a goal three minutes into the match.
