There are just two months left until the 2019 Major League Soccer season comes to an end. Looking back at performances last week, the league has released a list of players who made the ‘Team of the Week‘, and it features two Nigeria-born players: Ike Opara and Nedum Onuoha.
A defender, Opara plays for Minnesota United. Last week, he helped the club to a 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids. This year alone, the 30-year-old has been chosen for the ‘Team of the Week’ an impressive seven times. No wonder experts are already tipping him for the ‘Defender of the Year’ award.
Warri-born Nedum Onuoha plays as a defender for Real Salt Lake. This is the third time the 32-year-old is making the ‘Team of the Week’ this season. He earned a spot on the list due to his stellar form during his club’s 3-0 win over Seattle Sounders last Thursday.
The two players were listed alongside 2019 FIFA Puskás award nominee, Zlatan Ibrahimović.
