Speed is incredibly essential in football, and apparently, Henry Onyekuru isn’t lacking in that. With the 2018-19 Turkish Süper Lig season set to round off in May, it’s been revealed that the Nigerian is the fastest player in the league this season!
According to Opta Can – the Turkish version of sports analytics site, Opta Sports – the 21-year-old clocked an impressive speed of 32 km/hr over 20 meters to place first among all players in the league for the 2018-2019 season
Crunching that number, you may find that that’s close to the average performance we get from some professional athletes. So, for a footballer to keep up that speed with a ball at his feet is pretty damn incredible.
Onyekuru is on loan from Everton at Galatasaray. With performances like this, we’re not surprised the Premier League club set his price at €40 million (N16 billion) in response to advances from Bayern Munich, which is seriously looking to sign him.
