Michael Essien To Play For Chelsea Legends In Upcoming Charity Match

Every year, the Real Madrid Foundation organizes the Corazón Classic Match, an exhibition game in which football legends get together to play for charity. The 10th edition will be between former Real Madrid and Chelsea players – and Ghanaian star, Michael Essien will be playing.

Out of all the legends who will line up for this game – from Marcel Desailly to Ricardo Carvalho – Essien is surprisingly still active in football. Given that the 36-year-old recently signed with Azerbaijan club, Sabail FK, we expect him to be still as light-footed as he was during his Chelsea days.

Real Madrid has played the charity match in the past against clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool, winning all but one of the games. So, the appearance of a player like Essien, who once played for Real Madrid, could be a big advantage for the Chelsea Legends.

The old-school clash will take place on June 23 at Real Madrid’s home stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu.
