Yesterday, Liverpool took on Bayern Munich to determine which team makes it to the Champions League quarter-finals. As he has been in the last few games, Sadio Mané was in his element, scoring two goals and making history along the way.
Mané has officially scored the most away goals of any Liverpool player in the Champions League.
The 26-year-old gave Liverpool their opening goal in the 26th minute, and he then followed it up with an 84th-minute header that found the back of the net. That brings the number of away goals he’s scored for Liverpool to seven.
The only players to ever come close to that record are Steven Gerrard and Roberto Firmino, both of whom have six away goals each. So, this is also a European record for the Senegalese striker, who seems to be having the time of his life at the moment.
So far, he has scored nine of his 13 Champions League goals in the knockout stage of the tournament. Going by the stats, that is the second highest number achieved by any player with more than 10 Champions League goals.
We hope he continues dominating matches like this for Liverpool.
