Kano: Ganduje shutdown all rehabilitation centres, gives deadline for evacuation of inmates
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman Technical Committee on remodelling Almajiri system of education in Kano State.
He explained that the directives followed after receiving the interim report on the inspection and assessment of privately run reformatory centres by the committee by the executive governor.
“Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje ordered for the immediate closure of all privately run reformatory centres operating in the state pending on the establishment of appropriate law stipulating the guidelines for the operation of such centres.
“The Governor also ordered parents and guidance to immediately collect their children from such centres within three days.”
Saga Gist reported that Kano State Government had recently discovered a notorious reformatory centre and rescued 39 persons in chains.
