Bundesliga: Collins, Awoniyi In Action, Ehizibue Subbed Off Early As Paderborn, Mainz Draw; Cologne Lose

Jamilu Collins played 90 minutes of football as struggling Paderborn held Augsburg to 0-0 away in Wednesday’s Bundesliga game, Completesports.com reports.

Collins Featured in his 24th league appearance with one goal while Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee came on in the 67th minute for his fifth appearance of the campaign.

Paderborn have now drawn their last three games and are without a win in their last five matches.

With the result against Augsburg, Paderborn remain rooted to the bottom of the table on 19 points while Augsburg are in 13th position on 31 points.

At the PreZero Arena, Kingley Ehizibue’s Cologne lost 3-1 away to Hoffenheim and extend their winless streak to four games.

Ehizibue who was in the starting eleven was removed in the 32nd minute after making his 26th Bundesliga appearance with one goal to his name.

A brace from Christoph Baumgartner in the 11th and 46th minutes and a strike from Steven Zuber on 48 minutes, secured the win for Hoffenheim.

Cologne’s goal came off the boots of Florian Kainz in the hour mark.

Baumgartner missed from the penalty spot on 42 minutes while Cologne’s Uth also missed his spot kick on 77 minutes.

Both teams had a player sent off as Benjamin Huebner and Sebastiaan Bornauw for Hoffenheim and Cologne respectively were giving their matching orders.

Cologne now currently occupy 11th position on 34 points in the 18-team league table.

In another Bundesliga game decided on Wednesday, Taiwo Awoniyi played for Mainz who held Anthony Ujah s Union Berlin to a 1-1 draw away.

Awoniyi came off in the 62nd minute after his ninth appearance in the league, netting one goal.

 On his part, Ujah did not see action for Union Berlin as he was an unused substitute.

Bote Baku gave Mainz the lead on 13 minutes before Marcus Ingvartsen drew the home team level in the 33rd minute.

Mainz are 15th on 28 points and are a point above the relegation play-offs, with Union Berlin in 13th on 31 points.

Meanwhile, the other Bundesliga game between Fortuna Dusseldorf and Schalke 04 saw the former triumph 2-1.
