Technical adviser of Abia Warriors, Henry Makinwa, has paid huge tribute to his players following gritty win over their Oriental rivals, Heartland in Wednesday’s NPFL matchday-7 fixture, Completesports.com reports .
“I feel great, three points in the kitty, two straight Oriental Derby wins, I’m extremely delighted,” Makinwa, the former ABS Ilorin gaffer told Completesports.com.
“The boys have done a great, great job. Its not easy in a top level game like this.
“They have made me proud, they have made the club proud and the supporters too.”
Despite pulling the strings that deposed the Naze Millionaires at the summit of the NPFL Group A standings, Makinwa acknowledges his opponents’ fine quality.

“This is not taking any credit away from their quality,” he remarked.
“Heartland is a very good side, technically sound and well organised.
“Their back four is fantastic and going forward they are very dangerous.
“I’m only happy we got the goal and held out all through.”
Obi Samson struck a left-footed effort of extraordinary brilliance from 40 meters out, giving Heartland goalkeeper, Oluwasegun Fatunwase absolutely no chance.
That was on the 25th minute of the game that indeed turned out a good advertisement for the quality of the NPFL.
Makinwa’s Abia Warriors had days earlier plucked a 2-1 Oriental Derby win at FC Ifeanyiubah.
They will travel to El-Kanemi on Sunday for a matchday-8 fixture just as Heartland welcome FC Ifeanyiubah in a matchday-8 Oriental Derby fixture.
