Abia Warriors forward, Samson Obi has revealed he never knew his long-range strike against Heartland would kiss the net and eventually become the match winner, Completesports.com reports.

Shedrack Asiegbu had tried a fast switch of the ball from right to the left aimed at setting up Ibrahim Olawoyin on the left side of Heartland’s area in a swift buildup.
But the flight of the ball was disrupted with Uche Michael hitting it onto the path of Obi who let go a surprise left-footed volley straight into the top corner.

Obi’s goal will certainly be one of the contenders for the goal of the season.

“I didn’t know it was going to go in,” an emotionally dazed forward said.

“I just took the shot, putting my leg strongly because a Heartland player was also retreating.

“Thank God I took the decision and it eventually turned out a good reward.”

It was Obi’s second of the season, having opened his account in Abia Warriors’ 2-1 win at FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
