Spain international Ander Herrera has risen up in defense of his Paris Saint-Germain teammate, Neymar, who has been berated by a section of the media as not ‘thinking about the club’.
Herrera is appalled at the slight on Neymar by some journalists amid the Brazilian’s resourcefulness for the club this season.
Neymar, 28, has netted an impressive 13 goals and six assists in 15 Serie A games for PSG before the 2019/2020 campaign was suspended due to Coronavirus pandemic. He has also scored three Champions League goals with two assists in four matches. He has one goal apiece in the Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France.
His contributions have helped PSG to the top of Ligue 1 and into the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
“We all went to his house to eat together… he was very focused. He took everyone with him,” Herrera told Canal+ of Neymar’s positive attitude and impact at PSG.

“When I saw a few journalists say that Neymar was not thinking of PSG, I saw what he did during this period. It was incredible.
“Neymar gave a lot for the group during this period. A world-class player who gives that means that he thinks a lot about the group
and the collective.”
Herrera added: “I really hope that we [Ligue 1] will resume. I am not an expert, but maybe with tests for the players, or only 50 people per team, or the matches
behind closed doors.”
“For me, football must continue, but the first thing is health. If there is no risk, I think that football is very important for everyone.”
