World Football organization, FIFA has reiterates on Friday that football games remain suspended until the current global pandemic is over.

According to a statement by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, “no match is worth risking a life for.”

Gianni stated that football activities worldwide will not hold until Coronavirus (COVID-19) is conquered nationwide, adding that until it becomes safe for people to attend public events and host mass gatherings.

Gianni, however, noted that the football governing body would support financially affected national football federations at this time of global pandemic as major leagues and competitions have been brought to a stop and hence caused the drastic halt of revenue streams.

The FIFA President in a video message said: “Our first priority, our principle, the one we will use for our competitions and encourage everyone to follow is that health comes first,”

“I cannot stress this enough. No match, no competition, no league is worth risking a single human life.”

“It would be more than irresponsible to force competitions to resume if things are not 100% safe,” added Infantino.

“If we have to wait a little longer we must do so. It’s better to wait a little bit longer than to take any risks. We are today in a very strong financial situation,”

He added, “But our reserves are not FIFA’s money. It is football’s money. So when football is in need, we must think what we can do to help… It is our responsibility and our duty.”

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier that English Premier League club player, Kyle Walker has cut short his participation in playing Internationally for his home squad as England coach, Gareth Southgate takes an unpleasant decision against the player following a violation from the defender.
