Funke Akindele And Husband JJC Pleads Guilty For Violating Coronavirus Lockdown Order In Lagos

Nollywood actress, and her producer husband, , have pleaded guilty for breaching the lockdown directives imposed by the Lagos State Government to halt the spread of .

KanyiDaily had reported that the couple were arrested on Sunday by the police after they hosted a party in their residence to celebrate her husband’s birthday on Saturday.

The Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana had confirmed that the couple were arraigned before a magistrate in Ogba, Lagos on Monday.

The one-count charge against the couple reads:

“That you (1) Funke Akindele (2) Abdul Rasheed Bello on the 4th day of April, 2020 at 9, Gbadamosi Close, Amen Estate, Ibeju Lekki in the Lagos Magisterial District gathered at the aforementioned address with over twenty persons contrary to the social distancing directives of Mr Governor of Lagos State made pursuant to Regulation 8(29)(a) & (b) and 17(1)(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020 and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law Cap P16 Vol 9 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

After reading the charge brought before them by the court, the actress and her husband pleaded guilty.

It is believed that anyone found guilty of such charge is liable to a jail term of one month or N100,000 fine or both.

Popular Nigerian artiste, Naira Marley who also attended the birthday pary, has surrendered himself to the police at State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos State.
