Genevieve NNaji is one of the A-list actresses in Nollywood. She was the first actress to win the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2005 and was also honoured with the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to Nollywood.
Genevieve was born on the 3rd of May, 1979 in Mbaise, Imo state, but she was raised in Lagos state. Her father, who was an engineer and her mother, a school teacher worked together to raise their eight children, of which Genevieve is the fourth, in a middle class environment. Initially, she was a child actress at the age of 9 in a television soap opera titled Ripples. She attended Methodist Girls College, Yaba and went on to graduate from the University of Lagos with a Bacherlor’s in Creative Arts. It was while she was an undergraduate that she started auditioning for acting jobs.
Genevieve has many accolades and awards under her belt and is considered one of the best paid actresses in Nollywood. She forayed into the music scene in 2004. Althpough it was not a successful venture.
