Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori Says He Is Open To Playing For Nigeria

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may not have won Tammy Abraham’s allegiance yet, but it appears they now have another Chelsea player to add to the list of Nigeria-born stars to woo. We’re talking about Fikayo Tomori, who has just made it clear he’s open to playing for Nigeria.

Born in Canada to Nigerian parents, Tomori moved to England when he was a baby. His connection with these countries means he’s eligible to represent any of them in international football, but so far, he has played for Canada’s under-20 team and England’s under-20 and under-21 teams.

Having turned 21 recently, Tomori can’t play under-21 football anymore. That means he’s left with deciding which country to commit his senior career to, and he’s quoted by Daily Mail as saying that Nigeria is very much in the mix.

With this window of opportunity open, there’s no doubt that NFF will swing in to see how they can convince the solid defender to join the Super Eagles. If they succeed with him and Abraham, there’s no doubt that the future of the Nigerian team will be very bright.
