Falcons star Ordega joins Chinese side Shanghai WSC

Super Falcons forward Francisca Ordega has joined Chinese women’s league side Shanghai WSC from America’s National Women’s Soccer League side Washington Spirit.

Ordega who was impressive in Super Falcons triumph in Ghana where they clinched their 9th African title joined Washington spirit in 2015 scoring 9 goals for the side in 41 appearances with short loan sojourns with Sydney FC and Athletico Madrid respectively.

The four time African Women’s Championship winner is heading to china at a time compatriot and national teammate Assisat Oshoala crossed over to Spain to pitch tenth with Barcelona ladies. Although the financial implication of Ordega’s move was not available at the time of this report, it is believed to be mouthwatering.

Shanghai WSC are reportedly eager to have the Nigeria known for her pace and deadly shots on a good day to help the club move up on the ladder.

Ordega represented the Nigeria women’s national football team in all levels. With the under 17, she played the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and with the under 20 at 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. At senior level she played in the FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments of 2011 and 2015. At the latter she opened her World Cup account by scoring Nigeria’s equalizing goal against Sweden on 8 June 2015 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The pulsating match ended 3–3 in the opening game of Group D.

She was also part of Nigeria’s squads at the African Women’s Championship of 2010 and 2014, winning both tournaments.

At the AFCON 2018 she did not only score two goals but also provided two assists claiming the woman of the match award at the final game against Bayana Bayana of South Africa
