Jidenna‘s sophomore album, 85 to Africa, is a few days away, and the Grammy nominee is intent on getting fans excited for the project. Following the release of  “Sufi Woman” & “Tribe”, he’s now shared two more tracks off the LP, “Sou Sou” and the Mr Eazi-assisted “Zodi“.

One of Nigeria‘s biggest stars, Mr Eazi elevates every track he’s featured on, so it makes sense that Jidenna enlisted him for “Zodi”. On the afropop track, both artists display great synergy, as they take turns singing about trying to convince their women about how they feel.

As for “Sou Sou”, Jidenna presents an interesting mix of trap and r&b. While the track might lack the lyrical strength of his past releases — who knew so many words rhymed with “sou sou”? — his fun flow, along with stellar production work, make the track quite engaging.

Jidenna has always shown a massive interest in connecting to his Nigerian roots — from his fashion choices to his frequent trips back home — and now, we can fully see this translating into the music he’s creating. We can’t wait to hear what the rest of the album has to offer.

Until then, listen to “Zodi” & “Sou Sou” right here:
