Earlier this month, Beyoncé dropped The Lion King: The Gift, a fantastic compilation album inspired by The Lion King. While the album was packed with great songs, a clear standout was the Wizkid-assisted “Brown Skin Girl“, which Simi just released a self-produced refix for.

Before Simi became the heavyweight she is today, she was known for creating incredible refixes for hit songs. Every so often, she returns to her refixing roots, as we saw with her version of Skepta & Wizkid’s 2018 hit, “Bad Energy”, and now with the beloved “Brown Skin Girl”.
“Brown Skin Girl” is a love letter to black girls and women everywhere, reminding them that they are worthy of praise. Much like it did for everyone, it clearly resonated with Simi, and she decided to create her own version, singing words of affirmation to brown skin girls.
While Sime adds her own flavour with cheeky lyrics and some Yoruba, her refix still maintains the song’s best part: the chorus. The song is also accompanied by a video of Simi and her girl gang dancing together and enjoying the song with an infectious, sunny disposition.
