A late Harry Maguire strike earned Manchester United a 2-1 win against Leicester City in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford on Friday.

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi made a return to Leicester’s starting line-up after being sidelined with a hamstring injury since December, 2025.

Leicester took the lead in the 42nd minute thanks to Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Boubakary Soumaré won the ball back and fed it to Bilal El Khannouss.

The Moroccan in turn pulled back for Ndidi to shoot which Onana saves, before Bobby De Cordova-Reid headed home from two yards out.

United came out more purposefully in the second half and almost equalised but Caleb Okoli made a goaline clearance.

The breakthrough for United eventually came in the 68th minute thanks to Joshua Zirkzee.

Alejandro Garnacho beat his marker on the left and cross the ball with a Leicester player blocking an initial shot before Zirkzee tapped into an empty net.

Maguire then emerged the hero as he rose highest to head home Bruno Fernandes’ set piece to make it 2-1 and send FA Cup champions United into the fifth round.

The fourth round of the FA Cup will continue on Saturday and Sunday.
