The festival, spanning two days on April 6 and 7, featured a lineup of music heavyweights including J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Monica, and Muni Long, among others.
Taking the stage on day 2, Rema performed his hit track ‘Calm Down’, but the performance hit a snag when he encountered significant sound issues.
In a now-viral video, Rema can be seen expressing his frustration with the sound quality, describing it as “messed up” and noting its detrimental effect on his performance.
Rema, who addressed the audience, emphasized the importance of equal treatment for all artists regarding sound quality, particularly expressing his disappointment as a representative of Africa.
He said, “Hold on, there are too many sound issues. it is messing up my whole performance I am seriously not feeling this sh*t at all.
“It is too messed up. I am representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artiste that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sh*t up? I will walk out this stage bruh, fix it!”
In another clip, Rema reiterated his concerns before ultimately deciding to leave the stage, citing ongoing sound problems.
“Too many sound issues, my people. I love you, goodnight,” he concluded, ending his performance prematurely.
