The Labour Party, LP, has finally reacted after reports circulated that its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, decided to leave the party and join another one.
The reports claimed that due to the lingering crisis in LP and other issues, Obi has concluded plans to abandon the party and join a new platform ahead of the 2027 presidential elections with some suggesting that he plans to join the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
However, reacting to the viral reports, Dr Yunusa Salisu Tanko, Chief Spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 election said, “It is not true. As far as I am concerned, there is nothing like that”.
Meanwhile, Obi has not addressed this rumour since it began to spread neither has any other leader of the party said anything about it until Tanko’s clarification denying the claim.
