Since Rema broke out in March, the young superstar has left us no room to forget about him. Following his eponymous debut EP, which housed one of 2019’s biggest songs so far, “Dumebi”, he’s now released another ambitious four-track project, Rema Freestyle EP.

Prior to joining Mavin Records, Rema had a reputation as a solid trap rapper amongst his peers, and his Instagram feed is littered with a bunch of fun freestyles – the best of which he has cleverly gathered and turned into a cleaned-up project for his newfound fans to enjoy.

Showing off his versatility, Rema delivers four freestyled tracks, with completely different sounds to what we heard on his debut EP. Although each song is fantastic, the undeniable standout is “Boulevard”, which we’re expecting to gain a lot of traction in the coming months.

While we’re only halfway into the year, it’s already pretty clear that Rema is the breakout star of 2019. His rapid success is certainly well-deserved, as he’s contributing to the diversification of mainstream Nigerian music, making his future in the industry an exciting one.
