DSS spits fire, brands IPOB/ESN lawyer charge and bail over attacks on DG, delayed trial of Emefiele

The lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra and that of the Eastern Security Network, IPOB/ESN, Maxwell Okpara, has come under heavy attacks from the Department of State Services, DSS, for his role as defending counsel to the embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele.

On Tuesday, the secret police described the lawyers who filed contempt charges against the DSS Director-General, Yusuf Bichi over Emefiele’s continued detention as charge and bail lawyers.

The DSS, in a statement released to the public through its official Twitter handle, took a critical view of the composition  of the IPOB/ISN lawyers and observed that they were headed by an overzealous and uninformed IPOB/ESN lawyer.

The statement read in part, “Charge and bail, overzealous uninformed IPOB/ESN lawyer, Maxwell Okpara mobilizes other like-minded lawyers against the Director-General of the DSS.

“Futile Efforts. Well, Nigerians, beware! This is in bad faith. Transferred aggression.

“A Biafran Republic agitator and Outlawed IPOB counsel defending the suspended CBN Governor. Is IPOB defending one of theirs?

“What a contradiction. what’s the connection? Is someone telling us something? May Maxwell be properly educated on points of law, please.”

Recall that some lawyers had filed a contempt charge against the DGSS over allegation that bothered heavily on disobedience to multiple judgments and orders of the court, calling for the immediate release of the embattled Emefiele from the custody of the DSS.

The lawyers pressing for the release of Godwin Emefiele were led by Maxwell Okpara, who is also one of the counsels to Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
