Grammy-winning Nigerian musician, Burna Boy has broken his silence after Afrobeats superstar, Davido, classified him as a ‘new cat’ in the music industry.
KanyiDaily recalls that during a recent interview with Brut Afrique, Davido claimed that he and Wizkid were the first young Nigerian artists to achieve stardom.
Davido, however, said he was excited to see “new cats” like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake now making remarkable strides in the music industry.
The statement made by Davido has generated diverse reactions on social media, with some fans of Burna Boy expressing their disagreement, as they believe the Grammy-winning artist should not be compared to emerging musicians.
Reacting via his Instagram page, Burna Boy shared photos from his successful show at the London stadium as he celebrated being able to fill up the 80,000-capacity venue.
He revealed that his lifelong dream has always been to unite people from diverse backgrounds, and his London performance allowed him to realize this ambition.
Burna Boy wrote, “Uniting people from all walks of life has always been my dream.
“London, thank you for making it possible for me at my biggest show to date! Shout out to my family @theuglygram @santandave @popcaanmusic and Stormzy.”
“We’re Leaving An Impact For Eternity. Love, Damini.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Burna Boy’s sister, Nissi Ogulu had also clapped back at Davido by sharing a video from her brother’s recent sold-out concert in London.
