According to a statement released on Wednesday by Peter Afunanya, the spokesperson for the Department of State Services (DSS), the agency has identified some individuals who are involved in a plot to install an interim government and subvert democracy in Nigeria.
The DSS warned that it will use all available resources to frustrate the scheme, which it said was being pursued by “entrenched interests” seeking to undermine civil rule and set aside the constitution.
The agency also stated that it supports a smooth handover and will collaborate with other security and law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless inaugurations at the federal and state levels on May 29, 2023.
The DSS called on all stakeholders, including the media, civil society, and judicial authorities, to be cautious and not to allow themselves to be used as instruments to subvert the nation’s peace and stability.
The agency warned those behind the plot to retract from their intentions, or face legal action.
