Chuba Akpom netted his 24th goal in the English Championship and had an assist, as Middlesbrough thrashed Preston North End 4-0, to remain in contention for automatic qualification to the Premier League.
Akpom helped Micheal Carrick’s side broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute.
He then turned provider as he assisted for Middlesbrough’s third goal scored by Cameron Archer.
It was the fourth consecutive game that Akpom will get on the score sheet.
The former Arsenal striker has now bagged five goals in his last four games.
Victory for Boro on Saturday took their points tally to 67 and are three points behind second-placed Sheffield United, who occupy the second automatic qualification spot.
