The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has disclosed why the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa collapsed in Abuja.

Pantami said Bawa “collapsed due to pressure and work burden.”

He urged “Nigerians to pray for Bawa,” stressing that he has regained consciousness.

Bawa had collapsed while delivering a goodwill message at the National Identity Day at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja.

Following his collapse, the EFCC boss was rushed to the statehouse clinic for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the EFCC had said Bawa was now hale and hearty, having been stabilised.

“The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa is hale and hearty.

“This clarification became necessary following an incident today September 16, 2021, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he was giving a goodwill message to the National Identity Day celebration, felt unwell and had to return to his seat.”
