Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based rights activist, has asked supporters of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to storm the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday to witness the agitator’s trial.

President Muhammadu Buhari, according to Adeyanju, can only communicate in this manner.

Nigerians, the activist said, have the right to attend the trials of those they support.

Kanu’s followers, according to Adeyanju, should not be frightened to flood the court and express unity on Monday.

In a tweet, Deji wrote: “I appeal to Nnamdi Kanu’s supporters to flood the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as they begin his trial.

“That is the language Buhari understands. Don’t let anyone scare you. Citizens have the right to protest and also to attend the trial of one of their own.”

Kanu’s trial will resume on Monday before a court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako.

Kanu’s treason charge was in front of a judge when the agitator fled the country in 2017.

Kanu was given bail by Justice Nyako, after which he escaped Nigeria for Europe.

He was apprehended and repatriated just a few weeks ago.

Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, maintained that his client never escaped bail, claiming that he was forced to quit Nigeria by the Nigerian government.

Despite the fact that the Federal High Court justices are on recess, Kanu’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, announced yesterday that Kanu’s trial will proceed as scheduled on Monday.
