President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed “deep grief” over the air disaster that killed Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff, and several military leaders.
On Friday, Attahiru and 11 people, including four crew members, died in a jet crash near Kaduna.

Buhari expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased, the military, and Nigerians in general in a statement released on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
He referred to the slain as “heroes who paid the ultimate price for the country’s peace and security.”
The President said the crash is “one mortal blow to our underbelly, at a moment when our armed forces are set to end the security issues facing the country,” while praying that God receives the heroes’ souls.
The President promised that the lives of those who had died would not be in vain.
