The Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC) Worldwide, yesterday, restated its 30-day ultimatum for the Federal Government to name a substantive board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) or face a show down with the group, as the count down begins.

IYC and leaders of ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta had on April 25, 2021 given the Federal Government a 30-day ultimatum to appoint a substantive board for the NDDC without further delay or face their wrath.

They insisted on the dissolution of the Interim Management, headed by a Sole Sole Administrator, Effiong Akwa and appointment of a substantive board or they will shut down all oil Installations in the region and cripple the nation’s economy when the ultimatum expires.

National Spokesman of IYC, Ebilade Ekerefe, who stated this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State during the Remembrance Day of Ijaw hero, Isaac Adaka Boro, said Niger Delta youths were ready and would not stop demanding immediate reconstitution of the substantive board of the commission

He said in spite of all the Niger Deltan people had done to ensure peace in the country, the Federal Government had became a ‘Pharoah’ to the region.

At the Presidential Amnesty office, the status of the substantive head has become interim with policy formulation handed to the National Security Adviser (NSA) and former agitators subjected to frequent policy changes and review of funding.

While extolling the late Boro, he said the region would not stop agitating and demanding that the Federal Government should do the needful with regard to proper restructuring, review of derivation formula, development and resource control.
