Omawumi & Waje Team Up For Fantastic Duet, 'She Is'

A few weeks ago, we got a trailer for a She Is, an Omawumi & Waje-produced rom-com starring Somkele Iyamah. Now, following the film’s successful release, the two have teamed up for a new song of the same name, which serves as the film’s official soundtrack.

She Is follows Frances (Iyamah), a beautiful and successful woman in her late 30s, who is desperately seeking love. Her life changes drastically when she’s told by her gynaecologist that she has a fibroid growing in her uterus, leading her to decide that she wants a child.

From the start of the film to the end, we follow Frances through multiple conflicting emotions and her resulting decisions – some funny and others devastating. The song embodies all of this, and also serves as an ode to strong and flawed women everywhere.

On “She Is”, the pair praise the strength of women, while bringing to light the societal issues that they have to face. The duet is also indicative of a pleasant change in the Nigerian music industry, as it adds to the short (but growing) list of collaborations between female artists.
