Since Odion Ighalo called it quits with Changchun Yatai, fans have been wondering about the next step he would take in his club career. Well, everything about that has been settled now, as Ighalo has joined a new Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua!

When Changchun Yatai was relegated last year, Ighalo was approached by a number of Premier League clubs, which were looking to bring him back to Europe. With interest coming from the likes of Barcelona, West Ham and Everton, we were certain the 29-year-old would be leaving China.

While other notable players like Mikel Obi and Victor Moses signed with new clubs, Ighalo refused offers from Europe. Now, it turns out he’s staying put in China – and we’re glad he beat the February 28 Chinese transfer window deadline.

Shanghai Shenhua confirmed his signing on their official Twitter handle, but nothing was said about how much the deal cost them. So, we don’t know if the signing fee is higher than the £20 million Changchun Yatai reportedly paid for him in 2017.

However, we know that Ighalo is likely going to feel at home in the new club, given that his former Watford boss, Sanchez Flores is currently managing the club.
