The former Governor of Central Bank, Lamido Sanusi has stated that a fast and assured way of achieving National development is to give proper education to the girl-child.
Sanusi gave the revelation during launch of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) project which is a means of challenging local community teachers in Nigeria.
According to him, the initiation of the project will solve certain problems and come with opportunities to help educate well the girl-child in distress and all kinds of problems.
“A Canada-based enterprise, 1 Million Teachers (1MT) is in strong collaboration with SDG, and they are expected to come up with definitive strategies that would aid in giving equitable education to the poor in different societies in the country”, Sanusi explained.
“It is vital to invest immensely on education, as it is the foundation of good things to come in the future. It holds key to societal and National development.
Educating also the girl child will solve problems like malnutrition, reduce infant mortality destitution and provide opportunity for less privilege to thrive and live well in the country.
The former CBN Governor said that the challenge is opened to community teachers with proficient skills in educating others.
He further said that applicants successful will annually receive 10 grants of $500 each, saying that application to gain entry to the programme will commence 1st of October and end 31st October, 2020.
