The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command Lawan Tanko Jimeta has described community policing as a potent strategy tool in solving security challenges that has bedeviled the country

CP Tanko Jimeta made this assertion during the official inauguration of Bauchi state community policing advisory committee (SCPAC) by Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir held at the Government House yesterday.

He said the community based policing model was adopted to suit the values, cultures and ways of life that are peculiar to each community setting in Nigeria

According to him, “For effective implementation of the strategy in Nigeria, the Inspector General of Police,IGP Mohammed Abubakar Mohammed has approve the setting up of Committees of community policing at various levels within the state. The committees which include, community policing advisory committee, state community policing , area command community policing committee, local government community policing committee and divisiinal community policing

Inaugurating the committee Governor Bala Mohammed said that the desire to achieved community policing would be achived by engaging various stakeholders and community leaders to have a say in security situation bedevilling their communities

The emir of Bauchi is the Chairman of the community policing advisory committee and the committee was lucky for having him as Chairman because e he would deepen

Government would continue to assist the security to discharge their duties saying even though Bauchi is not in crisis but case ls of bandit and kidnappers are there which need to be addressed

Also, the Co-Chairma of the Committee who is the Emir of Bauchi Dr. Rilwan Suleiman Adamu commended the Governor and the Nigerian Police for their foresight in of initiating such committee to tackling security challenges in the country

He said,  security cannot be achived without trust and sincere repr sentattaion of traditional rulers who are more closer to the people in times of communication

He also, assure that they will discharge their duties with all sense of humility, maturity to achieve their desire objectives
