Russia Premier League: Idowu Sent Off In Khimki’s Home Defeat

Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu was sent off for Khimki in their 2-1 home loss to FK Akhmat in the Russian Premier League on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.

Idowu was sent off with 13 minutes left in the game after receiving his second yellow card.

It was Khimki’s third defeat in four league games (one draw) played so far in the new season.

Khimki look to secure their first win of the season after Egor Danilkin opened scoring in the 21st minute.

Artem Polyarus had the chance to double Khimki’s lead in the 65th minute but missed from the penalty spot.

Akhmat were awarded a penalty of their own on 73 minutes which Vladimir Iljin converted.

And just a minute later Artem Timofeev scored the winner to give his side the win.

The defeat saw Khimki drop to 15th position on just one point in the 16-team league table.

Idowu joined Khimki on loan from Lokomotiv Moscow on 7 August for the 2020/2021 season.
