Former Super Eagles captain, Uche Okechukwu has thumped up the fine quality of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) despite the obvious challenges of poor facilities on ground, Completesports.com reports.
Okechukwu was spotted at the Umuahia Township Stadium during the NPFL matchday-7 Oriental Derby fixture between Abia Warriors and Heartland.
The ‘Gentle Giant’ who starred for Flash Flamingoes of Benin and Iwuanyanwu Nationale during his days in the domestic league before a move to Brondby of Denmark, spoke to Completesports.com about improvements in the NPFL.
Okechukwu says he is impressed with the quality of the league especially given what Heartland and Abia Warriors showed on the field of play to the delight of the fans.
“I’ve not really watched many games this season. I’ve watched Enyimba once or twice. This is the first time I’m watching Abia Warriors,” Okechukwu told Completesports.com.

“This is also the first time I’ve watched Heartland this season.
“But if you ask me, I would honestly say I’m very much impressed with what I’ve seen them dish out on the pitch.
“They playes quality and attractive football.
“Yes, the pitch may not have been too friendly for the free flow of the ball and game, but honestly there is much more positives in the league, I can say.
“I’m impressed, the teams are doing well in terms of quality of play.”
