Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been given a one-match suspension and £50,000 fine by the Football Association in relation to a social media post.
Alli, 24, was charged back in February over a joke made on social media regarding the coronavirus pandemic. The Spurs star joked about the outbreak and appeared to mock an Asian man.
Alli will now miss Spurs’ Premier League game against Manchester United when the campaign resumes next week.

The 24-year-old was charged back in February over a joke made on social media regarding the coronavirus pandemic and appeared to mock an Asian man.
He later deleted the post and released a video to apologise. He said: “I let myself down and the club.”
The FA have now handed Alli a one-match suspension the £50,000 fine and the game against United at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium next Friday.
Their statement read: “The Tottenham Hotspur FC player denied that a social media post breached FA Rule E3(1), as it was insulting and/or improper and/or brought the game into disrepute, and constituted an “Aggravated Breach”, which is defined in FA Rule E3(2), as it included a reference, whether express or implied, to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin and/or nationality.
“However, it was subsequently found proven by an independent Regulatory Commission.”
United’s game against Spurs will be their first since football was brought to a halt as a result of the global crisis.
