-As religious, traditional leaders urge to regulate worship centres
As part of the proactive measures against Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) by Kano state, government suspends official engagements and orders State Ministry of Tourism and Culture to call the attention of owners of all Event Centres in the state, to suspend all activities till further notice.
In a state-wide broadcast, held at Ante-Chamber, Government House, Kano, Monday, governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said “We suspends all official events that attract people gatherings, for the time being.”
And directed that “Ministry of Tourism & Culture should liase with the owners of all event centres across the state, to stop their businesses hentheforth, for the general health of the society. This position is hard and necessary for our wellbeing.”
Reminded that while the Emergency preparedness and response sub-committees are constituted in all the 44 LGAs and 484 wards in the state, Transport Unions should join the state efforts in making proper arrangement in the motor parks.
He stated that “Our Traditional and religious leaders are part of the major stakeholders in this collective effort. Hence it is very important for them to properly regulate all worship centres. All as proactive measures against Covid-19.”
Governor Ganduje added that people should try and avoid gathering of morethan 20 for their safety and safety of the society and families at home should always help their wards in observing all advices of our health professionals.
He said “While these measures are being instituted, other measures have been taken by closing all schools across the State and minimizing social gatherings, we have established a high powered Taskforce under the leadership of His Excellency the Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
This is done in order to mobilize all available resourses and closely co-ordinate all response activities towards curtailing the spread of the disease and safeguarding the health of our teaming population. Isolation centre for Management of cases has been designated.”

Ganduje appealed to the general public to continue to be law abiding and bear with the administration as the state/nation goes through the situation. And he stressed that the situation is extremely serious situation, but all of us must come together and co-operate to salvage the situation.
To further encourage the situation he reveals that “The State Ministry of Health will have to reinforce its preparedness and response plan by risk communication, investigation of suspected cases, surveillance measures at points of entries, laboratory diagnosis, response as and when they occur, and prepare adequately for case management.”
“We should all do the right thing, now and always,” he concludes.
