Former England international Kevin Phillips says Chelsea forward Willian would be a perfect fit at Tottenham Hotspur under former coach Jose Mourinho.

Arsenal are also interested in Willian who looks likely to leave Chelsea at the end of his current deal.

Mourinho signed the 32-year-old for Chelsea in 2013 when the Blues paid Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala £30million for him.

The Special One also tried to reunite with the Brazil international when he was Manchester United manager.

But 1999/2000 Premier League Player of the Year, Phillips, thinks Spurs would suit the winger better.

Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said: “Willian is a player that I like.

“I think he’s got great qualities, great attributes.

“At the end of the day, it’s whether or not he fits into Mourinho’s style and where he plays.

“Mourinho generally plays a 4-2-3-1, so you could certainly see Willian playing on the left or right and giving them a bit of quality.

“If they get him on a free and it isn’t too much money then go for it.”

Phillips who won the Premier League and European Golden Boot in the 1999/2000 season, added: “He’s been in and out the side at Chelsea, whereas if he goes to a side where he’ll play week in and week out, you will certainly see the best of Willian.

“For me, he’s still got plenty to offer in the Premier League, and if Tottenham were to secure his services, I think that would be a good signing.”

Willian is out of contract on June 30 and the Brazilian is still keen to stay in London.

Coronavirus threatens to delay the season beyond that date meaning stars like him could get temporary extensions.

Talks with the Stamford Bridge outfit over a longer term deal have stalled after Willian asked for a three-year extension but the club only offered two.
