African Presidents Congratulate Buhari

Presidents of some countries in the African continent have congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the just concluded presidential elections.

The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, who took to his twitter handle, said Buhari’s victory was a demonstration of the confidence Nigerians have in his leadership.

He tweeted, “congratulations h.e. ‪@mbuhari on your re-election for a second term as the president of the federal republic of Nigeria. Your victory is a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence the people of Nigeria have in your ability to lead the country to greater heights of progress.”

Also congratulating President Buhari in a statement, South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, described Buhari’s victory as a victory for all Nigerians.

Ramaphosa also praised Nigerians for their patience after the elections were delayed by a week and their peaceful conduct during the elections. He also expressed his commitment to working closely with President Buhari’s government “to enhance the good bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly putting focus to the strengthening of economic cooperation.

In another congratulatory message on Buhari’s re-election for a second time, Ghanaian President, Nana Kuffo Akufo Addo, said his victory is a renewal of the confidence the Nigerian people have in his programme of governance, “which is hinged on job creation, diversification of the economy, particularly the strong revival of Nigeria’s agriculture, and the fight against corruption.

He commended the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for a vigorous, well-fought campaign, and applauded his decision to ventilate his dissatisfaction with the results of the election through a constitutional process, saying it is a testimony to his credentials as a well-established statesman
