<!– Davido and Makinde in Ibadan –>
Singer Davido has attracted social media bashing after he went on to play at several Ibadan clubs on Saturday, in clear violation of the coronavirus rules set by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Davido who had visited his home town of Ede in Osun State and had complained about bad roads met the Oyo governor and in contrast praised him for good governance.
“Ever since I first heard of your triumph and good governance in OYO State I’ve been wanting to meet you and I’m glad I did! You truly inspire me and with leaders like you the future is definitely bright! God bless you @seyiamakinde”, he wrote on Twitter.
Reports said after the visit, the singer performed at a wedding in Ibadan. And Later in the day, he was sighted at Club Derok and Stone Café, both in Ibadan.
His serial violations of Makinde’s order banning assembly of 50 or more people to curb coronavirus stirred many criticisms Sunday on Twitter.
Read some of the reactions:
But didn’t Davido himself arrive from the US after suspending his tour just last week?
He didn’t self isolate himself, rather he has been merry-go-rounding from Lagos to Ede and now to Ibadan. It is not even funny

On Friday, Makinde ordered closure of all schools in the state till after Easter celebration.
Makinde gave the order while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of the State Task Force on COVID-19, held at the Government House, Agodi in Ibadan.
He also suspended the ongoing state workers verification exercise and the free medical mission indefinitely.
The governor advised religious centres against holding activities that would bring more than 50 persons in the same place.
He said the measure taken was to avoid the outbreak and spread of the coronavirus disease currently spreading globally.
On Sunday the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control announced that a confirmed case of COVID-19 has been found in Oyo State, along with two new ones in Lagos, bringing Nigeria’s tally of confirmed cases to 26.
