Burna Boy is having an incredible stint in the limelight, kickstarted by his fantastic 2018 mixtape, Outside. Now, following a string of fantastic singles and another impressive body of work, the afro-fusion star has deservedly taken home the award for ‘Best International Act‘ at the 2019 BET Awards.

The BET Awards are clearly tapped into the Nigerian music scene, as they consistently select just the right artists for nominations. This year, alongside Burna, Mr Eazi and Teni also got nominations, which is fitting, as they’ve all been at the top of their games.

Burna Boy beat out the likes of Giggs, Dave, Aya Nakamura, AKA and a bunch of other talented global superstars in the ‘Best International Act’ category, making him deserving of his self-proclaimed title, the African Giant.

Celebrating his win on Twitter, Burna Boy said:

“God is great! Thank you to everyone that’s supporting, I wouldn’t have done this without you. This one is for Africa.”

Well, we know he’s currently working on a new album, and if that body of work ends up being as good as Outside — the singles he’s dropped so far make it seem like that will be the case — we expect to see the superstar to nab even more trophies.
