
Some bandits have killed four vigilante members in Buruku community in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A source told our correspondent on Sunday that two other members of the vigilante group had gunshot injuries during the attack.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity on the telephone, said the incident happened on Friday in an ambush by the bandits.
He gave the names of those killed as Habibu Yusuf, Adam Abubakar, Bahari Kabiru and Sani Abdullahi; while those injured were Abdulrazak Abdullahi and Suleiman Abubakar.
He said, “Four of our members were shot dead on Friday. The entire Buruku community is mourning.
“Apart from the military, police, we have always been on our guards to ensure that we protect our communities. We have always been thorns in their(bandits’) flesh.
“Some of our members went to recover the remains of a victim of an attack when they were ambushed. We loss four men in that attack and two were seriously injured from gunshot wounds.”
The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to confirm the incident. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, said he would reach out to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area and get back to our correspondent. However, as of the time of filing this report, he never got back.
