The recent commendation for Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State over his 100 days in office by Chief Chris Akaraonye, the State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has invoked the wraths of Sir Dom Ekeigwe, a Nigerian born but United States of America based social crusader.

Ekeigwe who hails from Umueleke in Ehime Mbano Council Area of Imo State in a telephone interview with Owerri based Journalists expressed disgustment over a media statement recently credited to the NUJ Chairman for singing praises of the Governor for an alleged giant stride achievements in areas of infrastructural development and transformation of the state within the first 100 days of his assumption of office.

The Social Crusader who is also the Leader of Apostles of Change for Good  Governance in Nigeria described statement and commendation as “falsehood and deceptive” noting that on ground that the Governor seems as if he is yet to understand the essence of good governance and provide the people the needed dividends of democracy for which he was voted in.

He challenged the NUJ Chairman to point out one significant people oriented project the Governor initiated and completed in any part of the state within the period under discussion.

According to Ekeigwe popularly known as Onwa Okigwe “it is unfortunate that Chief Akaraonye as Chairman of NUJ has thrown the social responsibility roles of the press to the dogs by turning into sycophancy.  This  is probably a realistic demonstration that the society is finished because if the leader of the watchdogs is saying all is well amidst infrastructural decay, glaring poverty, insecurity and lack of visionary governance, it’s a justification that the society is in trouble” he lamented.

The Social Crusader advised Chief Akaraonye to apologize to Imolites for allegedly being sycophantic demanding on the need to always tell the leaders the truth so that they will remain focused.

He passionately appealed to Governor Hope Uzodimma to give adequate priority to massive roads construction and rehabilitations, as well as environmental protections and security noting that the state is  in deplorable conditions.

Ekeigwe further expressed disappointment on the state’s educational sector and called for its declaration of state of emergency in terms of equipment and infrastructural transformations.

The Leader of the Apostles of Change for Good Governance further canvassed on the need for the Governor to conduct a local government elections and embarked on the rehabilitation and construction of inner city roads within the headquarters of the three Senatorial zone.
