Cameroon government has warned herbalists who claim to have the cure for COVID-19 of what is required to avoid prosecution, but instead get the full backing of the government.

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul on Thursday announced that anyone who parades himself as a traditional doctor with the cure for coronavirus will be arrested and infected with the virus.

As proof that the medication works, the herbalist will have to cure himself with whichever medications he claims to have discovered. Only then will the Cameroonian government throw their full support behind such persons.

“Any herbalist who claims they can cure Covid19 will be arrested and infected with the virus. If they succeed in curing themselves, the govt will support them.” He’s said.

Surely, this will serve as deterrent to individuals who parade themselves as herbalists selling fake drugs as cure for coronavirus to unsuspecting citizens.

The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have reached Cameroon on March 6 as the first confirmed case, a French national arrived in the capital Yaoundé, February 24.

The first recorded death occurred on March 24. The deceased was a famous saxophonist Manu Dibango.

The virus which has been in transmission in the country for 2 months, 1 week and 5 days has seen a total number of 2594 cases recorded with 1,555 recoveries and 139 deaths.
